Walking tour team incubation

It starts with one route and ends with a place that can tell its own story.

TC Time Walk has been walking visitors through Taichung's old town since 2015. Ten years on, what we have built is not just a set of routes but a whole method for turning a place into an experience you can walk. We hand that method over and work alongside local teams, from asset mapping and guide training to route design, branding, booking and operations, until they have a walking tour team of their own.

We do not only walk visitors into a place. We walk with the place, further.

How it works

Nine stages. The timeline depends on local conditions, usually six months to two years.

  1. 01

    Mapping local assets

We walk it first. Who is still here, which spaces are still in use, which stories survive, and which are now just a name on a door.

  2. 02

    Field research and story editing

Oral accounts, documents and the site itself get cross-checked, then written into a version a guide can tell and a visitor can follow.

  3. 03

    Route design

Where to start, where to stop, how long to walk. The route is the backbone of the experience.

  4. 04

    Recruiting and training guides

We find people willing to talk about their own hometown, then bring them onto the street with the same training we use for our own guides.

  5. 05

    Test walks

Real visitors walk it first. Feedback comes back, the route changes. The fixes do not happen in a meeting room.

  6. 06

    Brand and product design

Naming, tone of voice, how you charge, and what the line-up of tours looks like.

  7. 07

    Pricing and business model

Tip-based, fixed price, group quotes. We work out which one can actually keep this place running long term.

  8. 08

    Booking and operations system

Online booking, scheduling and reconciliation get connected, so the team stops managing orders in a chat app.

  9. 09

    Launch and continuous improvement

Launch is not the finish line. We keep reviewing the numbers and the feedback with you, and keep adjusting.

Three ways to work with us

  • A

    Local teams

Local revitalization teams, communities, people who have moved back home, cultural workers, local brands and merchant associations.

You have the stories and the people. What is missing is a way to turn them into something that can keep running.

  • B

    Corporate partners

ESG, CSR, shared value with local communities, cultural sustainability, social impact, employee volunteering and local sourcing.

Companies bring resources, TC Time Walk brings the method, and the place builds capability. Money is not the goal; capability is.

I want to support a place

  • C

    Government and institutions

Local governments, cultural affairs departments, planning agencies, schools, foundations and regional revitalization programs.

A one-off event becomes capability that stays in the place, instead of ending with the final report.

MTS Project

MAKE TAIWAN SHINE: corporate ESG meets local co-creation

MTS is not a seventh service. It is a way of connecting corporate resources to local capability: the company brings resources and reach, TC Time Walk brings the method, consulting and systems, and the place brings its people, stories and routes. Together the three build a walking tour that can keep running.

Funding is not the goal. Local capability is.

When one-off sponsorship ends, a place usually slides back to where it started. MTS spends the budget on capability instead: once the people are trained, the systems are connected and the product actually sells, the place can carry on by itself.
